We understand that full-blown audio production with a large budget isn’t appropriate or possible for every project. With this in mind, we’ve divided the packages that we offer for audiobook production into several “tiers” to help you find your niche that suits your budget.
Here’s how we work:
Depending on the tier you choose, the narrator has agreed to take some risk and narrate your book with a larger portion of the royalties upfront. Once their fee has been paid back through royalties, you’ve reached the “flip point”. At this point the royalties “flip” to your favor. The narrator will usually still make a small percentage of future sales (as a reward for their risk), but a higher percentage now passes on to you, the author. All packages (except Tier 4) will include publication and distribution through major channels (including Audible, iTunes, Amazon, and Overdrive.com for library sales) as well as a growing list of other distribution channels. These books will be published under the Perfect Voices imprint.
It’s important to note that not all voice talent work at all tiers. The higher the tier, the larger the scope of narrators to choose from.
TIER #1:
This tier is intended for beginning or newer authors without a proven sales track record. It allows a book to get into audio format for a much smaller up front fee, but has a narrower range of possible narrators. All of our packages are contingent on the author finding a narrator they are happy with who is willing to work for the amount specified in the package. Tier #1 is broken down like this:
| Initial upfront cost (per finished hour) | $100 ($50 goes to the narrator) |
| Your intial royalty percentage | 20% |
| Royalty “Flip-point” (upfront + royalties) | $50+ $100 = $150 pfh |
| Your royalty after the “Flip” | 50% |
| Narrator selection Quality Control |

TIER #2:
This plan targets established authors with good sales track records whose work has not yet reached audio, or who would like to take charge of their own audio career. This also widens the pool of available narrators, as it nears the rates paid by professional audiobook publishers.
| Initial upfront cost (per finished hour) | $150 ($100 goes to the narrator) |
| Your intial royalty percentage | 30% |
| Royalty “Flip-point” (upfront + royalties) | $100 + $100 = $200 pfh |
| Your royalty after the “Flip” | 55% |
| Narrator selection Quality Control |

TIER #3:
This is the “Cadillac Plan” for established authors, or any author who does not want to share the royalty on their project with the narrator. It opens up to all Perfect Voice narrators, and if a suitable narrator is not present in the pool, we will recruit more. This is a full service audiobook package.
| Initial upfront cost (per finished hour) | $250 ($200 goes to the narrator) |
| Your royalty percentage (lifetime) | 70% |
| Narrator selection Quality Control |
Unlimited Author |

TIER #4:
This is strictly full-buyout pay-for-production, designed for publishers and authors who already have distribution and do not want us to publish the title. We will fully produce the title and hand over the masters to you. This is the only package that includes 3rd party quality control so the publisher may take a full hands-off approach.
| Initial upfront cost (per finished hour) | $350 ($200 goes to the narrator) |
| Your royalty percentage (lifetime) | 100% |
| Narrator selection Quality Control |
Unlimited 3rd Party |
